The entity behind soul shadows
meet giselle
The founder, creator, organizer, art curator, film curator, performer curator, panelist curator, vendor curator, bar curator and host of Soul Shadows.
Giselle is a singer, songwriter, musician, artist, director, writer, the owner of Bloody Hell Pinz, art curator, an occasional actress and a huge fan of horror. Her love for horror and her community is what led her to create Soul Shadows. Giselle noticed a lack of representation when it came to celebrating Black horror movies, shows, literature, businesses, performers, creators and more. She noticed how big conventions lacked diversity in their panels, special guest lineups and vendors. She also noticed that when it comes to almost every "Top 5 Horror Movies" or "Top 5 Horror Character" lists, Black films and characters are rarely ever mentioned. Giselle wanted to change that with Soul Shadows. Before Soul Shadows, Giselle put together a smaller scale event, We Are Here. She pitched the idea to a gallery and she organized, curated and hosted the event. It was a great start but Giselle knew there could be more and that's how Soul Shadows came to be.
